Scarftastic

So I have been trying to knit my mom's scarf while at work, but I find it is really hard because there is a lot of fumes (formaldehide i think) lurking in from the woodshop next door. It leaves me absent minded, sick to my stomach, with a headache, sore throat and itchy eyes. I keep messing up the easiest stitches and somehow even lost a stitch in there somewhere.

Anyways, last Saturday I met up with a small group from Ravelry and we went on a yarncrawl all over Philadelphia (I had to leave early because of work) but I ended up buying this 40 dollar hank of Tilli Tomas's Salt and Pepper in Rittenhouse. I had been looking at it on Loop;s website laughing about how I would never spend that much on ONE skein! That was until I touched it. I think its a little overpriced but it feels wonderful, works up fairly well and I dont have to manually add any beads! My biggest complaint is that the silk seems to stretch some which makes the thread with the beads on it a shorter length.

I've also been working on my Facebook Swap Scarf for Maria every day before and after work. It's coming out great so far but it knitting up pretty slowly. I'm sure I will be fine if I keep working on it daily though, It doesnt have to be finished until January. I'm off work tomorrow so I may take a few more teaser photos for her.

And finally, I have begun ripping apart my favorite gap sweater which has a few holes in it. Its quite the fun process. I stained some of the small pieces with coffee. and love the color, but I know it's bound to change over time with washes and sunlight since it is a stain and not a dye. Oh well, it will add to the charater of whatever the FO will be, I'm thinking a journal cover, something that won't have to be cleaned often.
