I purchased a bunch of $0.29 mugs at Ikea tonight for christmas. I am going to knit up a bunch of different cozies and fill the mugs with coffee/chocolate.
In both of these I used yarn from an old sweater I recycled doubled up. The first one (bottom) I used one strand that had been stained in a pot of coffee, the second was the yarn just as it came off the sweater.
The first one was finished tonight in about 15 minutes. I knit it flat in a
1x1 rib and crocheted the edges together.
I wish my DPN's were here with me but they are all in FL so I had to knit flat and sew together.
The second one (top) I made with 2 rows of 1x1 rib and then a staggered 3x1 rib, if that makes any sense, I am sure theres a name for it but I dont know what that is. The purls make a diagonal shape. Instructions and a chartish thing can be found below.
